Statement of Faith

1. That there is one God, existing in three co-equal and coeternal Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28: 19, II Cor. 13:14, I John 5:7)

2. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that He lived a sinless life (II Cor. 5:21) and that on the third day after His death on the Cross He rose bodily from the grave; that He ascended into Heaven where He now intercedes for all believers, and that He offers eternal life to anyone who puts his faith and trust in His finished work on the Cross as the only way of salvation. (John 3:16, John 14:6, Romans 10:9)

3. That the Bible is the uniquely inspired Word of God and is entirely reliable in all that it says, and is the final authority relating to matters of life and faith. (John 17:17, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21)

4. That 'all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23) and therefore all mankind are spiritually helpless and in need of salvation which cannot be obtained by human effort, but by God's grace through faith in Christ. (Eph. 2:8-10), Titus 3:4-7)

5. That since "salvation is of the Lord" and is based on Christ's work alone. We, through faith can be assured of our standing before God which will never be denied nor made more secure. (John 10:27-29, Romans 8:14-17, I John 5:11-13)

6. That apart from saving faith in Christ, all who die in their sins are lost and consigned to an irreversible eternity in Hell, separated from God. (Rev. 20:11-15)

7. That all Christians are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and have the responsibility to glorify God in their body and spirit (I Cor 6:19- 20); that the ministry of the Holy Spirit includes: glorifying Christ, comforting, guiding, strengthening, and encouraging believers in the Christian life, and convicting the unsaved of their need for Christ. (John 16:7-15)

8. That there is one Church, made up of all believers worldwide who have individually trusted Christ as their Savior; that the Church is looking for the imminent return of Christ, in which He will remove all believers to be with Himself. (I Thess. 4:13-17) Afterwards, their lives will be reviewed and they will be rewarded according to their works. (II Cor. 5:10, Romans 14:10-12)

9. That in the future, Christ will personally reign on Earth for a literal thousand year period, after which the history of mankind on Earth will be consummated and a new Heaven and new Earth established. (Rev. 20:1-4; 21:1)

10. That Christ is the Head of the Church, therefore making each local assembly of believers autonomous and accountable to the Lord alone; that its mission is to preach the Gospel to all nations, to make Christ preeminent in all things, and to equip believers to minister to one another and their neighbors in love. (Matt. 28:19- 20, Acts 1:8, Col. 1:18, Eph. 4:11-16)

11. That Christians have a responsibility to follow the Lord in discipleship and to live a life honoring to God; that baptism by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures for all who profess faith in Christ as an outward expression of an inward change (John 3:23, Acts 8:36-38); that the Lord's Supper should be regularly observed by each believer as requested by Christ in order to remember His death, a weekly event practiced by the early Church. (Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:42, 20:7, I Cor. 11:23-34)

12. That every Christian possesses spiritual gifts - talents and abilities bestowed by Christ after His resurrection for the purpose of edifying the Church (Eph. 4:7-13); that certain spiritual gifts were unique to the early Church to authenticate God's message and messengers, and having fulfilled their special purpose are no longer needed today. (I Cor. 13:9-10); that it is the right and privilege of every believer to worship Christ directly with no need for a human intermediary. (I Timothy 2:5)

13. That elders are recognized in each local assembly for the pastoral care they exhibit for God's people while meeting the spiritual qualifications set forth in the Word of God (I Tim. 3:17); that the ministry of deacons or trustees is primarily for the practical concerns of the assembly, while also meeting specific spiritual qualifications. (I Timothy 3:8-13)

14. That women have equal importance in the Church as that of men (Galatians 3:28), but possess different roles and responsibilities in ministry; that the Bible clearly teaches the significance of women's headcovering as a symbol of her submission to the prescribed pattern of spiritual authority as set forth in the Scriptures. (I Cor. 11:1-16, II Timothy 2:11-15)

15. That finances for the functioning and furtherance of the Church are to be provided by believers who give regularly, proportionately, and sacrificially as God has prospered as an evidence of love and commitment to the cause of Christ (I Cor. 16:1-2, II Cor. 8:1-15, 9:1-15); that since soliciting unbelievers for funds has no biblical basis, public offerings are not taken. (III John 7)

Welcome

We are a local group of Christians who have been meeting together in this area since 1964. Because we recognize that every Christian is a member of the 'Body of Christ" a worldwide fellowship that the Bible calls "the Church" - we have no denominational name or affiliation. We meet in a simple way to worship the Lord, study the Bible, preach the Gospel, and to enjoy fellowship one with another.

Visitors are always welcome to our Family Bible Hour, Sunday evening service, and Wednesday night Bible study. Children ages six through twelve can enjoy the Bethany Bible Club, which meets on Friday evenings during the school year. Teens meet later on Friday nights for activities and Bible study addressing the issues that confront them daily. Ladies can enjoy a night to themselves with a community craft program, and our basketball and softball program offers men a consistent opportunity for fellowship and exercise throughout the year. No matter what the need or the interest, we have a desire to help.

If you would like to know more about this fellowship and how to be identified with it, just fill out the enclosed card and leave it with an usher or call one of the individuals listed in this packet. We would be happy to counsel with you in whatever way we can.

If you have not trusted Christ as your personal Savior, we would count it a privilege to explain to you how to become a Christian.

We hope that you will consider making Bethany Bible Chapel your regular place of worship and service. We look forward to serving you and becoming better acquainted.
