Hello, My name is Jack and I live in Connecticut. I was just wondering if there are any known events for Christian brethren in my area. I am single and would be interested in meeting Christian singles in my area around my age (20s and 30s). The only bible college I know that teaches (plymouth) brethren priniciples is in Iowa which is pretty far away. There's a lot of Baptist and other evangelical stuff out there, but nothing like brethren doctrine (!) - so I am looking for fellowship with like minded Christians my age (even though we are the minority) Long live the priesthood of believers! And for this purpose, I labor, striving according to His power which works mightily within me. "(Col. 1:28, 29) For the last seven years, I have been involved as an associate Pastor in a inner-city ministry that had it’s beginnings 1992, when Pastor James Ahlemann, Senior Pastor, Christian Fellowship Church (CFC) in the suburbs of northern Virginia was led to start a Southeast DC outreach. It became known as the CFC's "Inner-city congregation." On a weekly basis, CFC workers visited the southeast section of DC, where a number of underprivileged families were provided with food, clothes, furniture, etc.. This allowed for the building of relationships with residents and opportunities to share the Gospel of Christ. The program began as an outreach to the residents of Potomac Gardens Apartments, a government-subsidized housing project in southeast Washington DC. The ministry grew from an outreach program to an established institution residing in a newly renovated building in S. E. Washington DC. Through a network of DC ministries and relationships, the ministry expanded to five Government housing projects: Potomac Gardens, Hopkins Apartments, Arthur Cappers and Carrollsburg Dwellings and Highland Park in Anacostia. It grew from a suburban community outreach to an inner city institution focused on Community Development. It was incorporated as the Christian Fellowship Hope Center (The Hope Center) in 1996 and acquired it's own separate 501 (c) (3) to be a church-based Community Development Corporation. I am thankful to the Lord for the passion, vision and mission of Christian Fellowship Church and our early beginnings as a local Church. It represents the rare commitment of a suburban church to the inner city. The Hope Center has gone through some recent changes or “upgrades” and the church component of this ministry has incorporated as a separate entity from the CDC component. New Hope Community Church (New Hope)is the registered name of the inner city congregation and will continue under my leadership as interim pastor. We are very young and continue to be in a “laying the foundation” era as a church. Our history and identity speak of Christ’s workmanship in establishing this church. From the beginning, there has always been the conviction that this church was created by God with a destiny - an eternal purpose for which we were uniquely designed. The recent events and decisions do help to remind us of our destiny, our vision and core values as a church family. Thank God for beginnings and new beginnings. All beginnings call for a solid foundation We therefore we have the opportunity to refocus upon our “upward calling in Christ.” My personal history goes back to the church planting initiatives of the Nottage Brothers. I was born and born again at the age of 14, in Detroit Michigan and discipled under the ministry of John Moore.
